Say hello to Benni E. Back in November, she busted on stage out of nowhere at a Sgt. Sass show to deliver a verse over 50 Cent's "I Get Money". And hell...this mysterious lady in a pink-wig spit so hard that I imagined Fiddy was somewhere crying about his inferiority. I was immediately starstruck, feeling a need to go shake her hand and churn out a compliment of no substance like, "Woooow, oh my god. That was SO AWESOME." I relived this day over and over as I listened to the Sgt. Sass mixtape Double S 4 Mayor, continuing to be intrigued by this self-proclaimed "vegetarian hype girl".

Two weekends ago, she celebrated the release of her mixtape Microphone Influenza at Make Yr Break's April partay (The Bubble House, Philadelphia). Upon arriving to the space, I was greeted with a big hug and then reprimanded for not visiting sooner. There was some chill time with tunes provided by DJ Bunnystyle, and then we all finally got some new flavor in our earrrrrrs! I don't even have words to describe how "SO AWESOME" the performance was. I mean, if my ears could taste, they'd be like "DAMN THAT JAM WAS DELICIOUS!!"

How delicious? Well have a taste yourself! "Call Me Daddy" is rapped over the instrumental for Spank Rock's "Backyard Betty", and it's totally better than Spank Rock. cat ciao!: part dos.

CAT CIAO! stormed onto my cheap-ass speakers a few weeks ago, and they've been turning my Party Shuffle into a true party ever since.

Some time since then, they've popped a new track called "Lemonade" onto their space. The chorus is simple enough-- "Do the lemonade girl, twist it like a lemon", but this is the number one neglected summer jam. It is now autumn, and doing the apple cider or the pumpkin pie just doesn't sound as catchy. But fuck that, it's warm enough. Grab yourself a glass of lemonade and twist your hips like it's still summertime.

On another note, my sister was just saying how the baby name "Lindsay" is ruined for her because of Lindsay Lohan. I guess she doesn't like girls who don't wear their panties, eh? Well, Cat Ciao! member Josh (Owl Meat/Figure) also did an incredible mash-up of Pase Rock's "Lindsay Lohan" and Cat Ciao!'s "Cat Fight". You can hear/download the original "Cat Fight" on their space. This stuff is too good to not escape the walls of Evansville, Indiana...so get it in your ears NOW.

health + cfcf: remixes and such.

HEALTH's website name, healthnoise.com, could indicate what you would expect from their sound...

No! They do not sound like two baby pandas sipping peacefully from their mother's teet. However, if you guessed that they're kind of noisy, you guessed correct. Originally this was a bit off-putting for me, but a friend has urged me to give them a second chance. I wasn't originally convinced until I came to the realization that at 2:04, "Crimewave" falls into the "too short to suck" category.

But holy shit. HOLY SHIT. The remix of "Triceratops" by Montreal's CFCF is the jam. In fact, CFCF in general is just the jam. While "Crimewave" is a great song, this remix is the type of song that could have me bobbing my head uncontrollably in my cubicle, afraid that my co-workers are going to see me, and consequently settling on tapping my foot. The foot tapping would gradually creep up to my entire leg, until I'm stomping. Finally, the music within me would burst through my fist as I propel upward from my office chair and start dancing on my desk.

Okay. So that obviously didn't happen, but it could. This remix would also serve as a great soundtrack for the training montage of some '80s movie...or my life. If you see me running around the streets of NYC in neon gym-shorts, you'll know what I'm listening to.
