Swanzy, Margreezy, and Bishara rep for the UK with a sound they designate as a mix of "old skool garage, grime, hip-hop" with a "splash of indie, rock, pop, trance, funk". As the Rope Chain $piller Kidz, they rock a style akin to Run DMC meets Gossip Girl (with a dash of neon). I almost thought that their giant dookie chains were a little gimmicky, but then I thought to myself that the world could use a few more musical groups that could double as gangs in The Warriors. And with influences like Salt 'N Pepa, Queen Latifah, TLC, Naughty By Nature and DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, it's not about gimmicks as much as taking it back to a time when hip-hop was more fun.

"Super Chain HeRope" is essentially the group's unofficial theme song, on which the three ladies bust out simple ol' skool flows over an electro-grime track. I'm not one to be lured in by British accents, yet there's something charming about the Spiller Kidz' conversational style.

The group seems relatively new, but with a track featuring Afrikan Boy (as heard on M.I.A.'s "Hussel" and Da Drought 3) they seem to be in good company. And while today they still may be fabulous and undiscovered, I can't imagine them staying underground for much longer.

In the immortal words of the illustrious poets 3LW, "haters are gonna hate". But Niyi isn't having that shit. I came across Niyi's tunes a long time ago when I was writing about the lovely cartoon-obsessed Namalee, and it must have been fate that I stumbled across his page on the space this past weekened to finally have a listen to "I Love You All". While I'm pretty sure that writing about Niyi is so September and the single has been out for some time now, you need to put it in your earholes now.

The original tune has a rockier vibe than most of Niyi's work, fueled by it's anti-hater chorus "I bet you didn't think that I'd be still here. Well, I love you. Yes, I love you all." It's an anthem for anyone who's been told they can't do something, containing equal amounts of optimism and anti-pessimism. It's like watching Akeelah and the Bee, except at the end Akeelah flips everyone the bird and is like "Yall suckers didn't think I could spell like that, eh? Well, fuck all the haters." I'm positive that anyone experiencing the October slumps can get down to this, and they can even take the acappella and make their own version if they can't get down to Niyi's original. I'm a big fan of the mysterious Pick A Doll store's remix of "I Love You All", which takes the original to new heights of optimism and happiness. You can almost picture Niyi laughing in the haters' faces while listening to it, and I like to think that optimism is defined by the thought that one day you'll be able to laugh in the faces of those who said you just couldn't do it.

If you got skills (or even if you don't), you can download the parts of "Amelia" and "I Love You All" to bust out a remix. I encourage you to send it my way, and you're given full permission to laugh in my face if I don't post it and you become totally famous.

Why don't more people blog about The Real Heat? I just don't get it. Three brutally hot sisters from South London who make sexy-electro jams and wear kick-ass neon-shiny outfits? Please explain to me why you're not digging this.

They were last seen on this blog with the Richard X produced "Come We Go". Need I remind you that Richard X produced such gems as M.I.A.'s "10 Dollar" and Annie's "Chewing Gum". And these aren't the only gems he's produced, evident by the fact that "Come We Go" is a motherfuckin' gem. Literally. Gems in MILF vagina!! (Er, remind to stop doing crack) While the group didn't do any extreme promotion of the song, I'm surprised that word of mouth didn't cause it to blow up in an underground sort of way.

To make matters even worst, they've now covered The Teenagers' "Love No", a genuine blog hit. It's yet to make a splash, so can we please learn from our mistakes? This is awesome folks...and these gals deserve some recognition. Spread the word about this song and The Real Heat in general. Bump this track at your pool party, call a friend, or just drive around with your windows down playing it really loud until people stare.

Anoraak's dreamy electro-tune "the wizzard" was featured here back in September. Since then, I've expressed my excitement about their inclusion on the Buffetlibre REWIND project. You can imagine that it was an extra treat to get a Fear of Tigers remix of "Nightdrive With You" delivered to my inbox. The remix doesn't veer too far off from the original yet gives it an extra kick that makes it ready for the dance-floor.

Two questions remain:

1. Anoraak, can you drop a full-length album, like...NOW?
2. Fear of Tigers, can you remix...my LIFE?

The first sixteen seconds of "Ding Ding Down" give off a bit of that '80s Nintendo/Atari energy that can be heard on myspace quite often, but as soon as things really kicks in...it's so much more than that. With nothing but a sampler and her Stratocaster guitar, Amant busts out a beat that's evocative of The Neptunes' earlier work (tracks like N.E.R.D.'s "Lapdance" come to mind) yet entirely original and decidedly less poppy. The lyrics are rather dark for a song with such a cheery title as "Ding Ding Down", including mention of either having your brain "washed" or "watched". Maybe I'm not listening closely, but both options are equally creepy.

Sam makes it clear on the space that she's "so solo she doesn't need a backing band", but it hasn't always been that way. She's a former member of the trip-hoppy pop group My Favorite Dentist Is Dead, who opened for The Cure's 2001 show in Grenoble, France. Clearly she's no stranger to performing, and I can only hope I can witness her "freaking all over the stage" some day.

It baffles me that I've never featured The Real Heat on ITMS. I was first introduced to them through the space, where I quickly declared their song "Stand and Deliver" as a dirty dance tune sent from heaven. And apparently heaven is a place in London? I know, I'm just as surprised as you are!

Their latest tune "Come We Go" is produced by Richard X, the man behind some of the best songs by M.I.A. and Annie. However, the trio generally produce their own songs, including today's bonus track "U Know". Both of these songs give me a mental image of myself at a club, licking the face of anyone who happened to come in my predatory path. Luckily, I don't go to clubs because you can now go to sleep knowing that my saliva will never be all up in your grill.

nina martine: en a leke med

NINA MARTINE. Oh shit. Oh shit.

I think I may be in love. I have no idea what she's saying in "en a leke med", but her and producer Zingone have stolen my heart with this jam. Like, my heart popped out of my chest and ran to Europe just to tell them how fucking good this song is. I hope that is a reasonable explanation for how mind-blowing this tune is. Perhaps you just need to listen.

In "Kick It", I totally know what she's saying. It's a very simple tune, with a bit of a UK grime tinge. For some reason this doesn't bother me because Nina isn't a dude with a British accent.* The song is accompanied by the type of video you'd expect, and once you see Zingone and Nina's dance moves, you won't feel so bad about completely dorking out to this. Just make sure you're wearing your Adidas pants...or your dominatrix ensemble?

She should totally be a bigger deal on the internet. Other bloggers take note. Just sayin'

* Confession: I have nothing against British peeps, but I'm a bit biased against people with British accents in music. Britain should not invade my ears when I have headphones on. This is an entirely aural preference, and there are certainly exceptions.

namalee: welcome to namazonia.

NAMALEE 'N THE NAMAZONZ's is quite obviously fronted by a girl named "Namalee".

She appears to have an unhealthy obsession with Spongebob Squarepants, rarely seen in photos without a necklace bearing a plastic figure of the character. She claims to be the child of Jerrica Benton, Jem of the similarly named Jem and the Holograms*. She even has a song called "I WANNA B A KARTOON". It's safe to say that she has some sort of preoccupation with cartoons.

Her song "U GLO GRRL" features a video in which she writhes sexually in a bathtub, whipping around her wet hair. Later in the video, she appears in the same tub with pineapple shaped sunglasses, fanning herself with a Spongebob fan. Apparently this video (1 of 3) was filmed in her native land of "Namazonia". Namazonia is a land characterized by an overdose on color and children's toys. It has its own national anthem with the surprising title of "NAMAZONIA". Upon hearing the first twenty seconds of this song, I was a bit hesitant to instantly proclaim my love for Namalee...

"Namazonia! (It's the place to be!) Namazonia! (You can climb a tree!) Namazonia! (It's the place to be!) Namazonia! (Let yourself be free!)"

Then the song became awesome after that. Around 1:50, it gets even more awesome. This is grime-y electro-pop GOLD.

"I KNEW I WAS RIGHT", a punky girl-power anthem, doesn't even sound like it's by the same musician who created "NAMAZONIA" or "U GLO GRRL". This quick ability to change genre is reminiscent of Peaches ability to go from electroclash goddess to punk-rock bitch. But it doesn't stop there. Two-thirds of the way into the song, Namalee adopts R&B vocals for a breakdown preceded by the ever-so-wonderful "And now it's time for a breakdown" [popularized by En Vogue's 1992 hit "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)"].

With these beats, vocal versatility, and sheer craziness...I don't think Namalee's music can be contained by the boundaries of the UK much longer. Her album will be released next year, and a tracklisting can be found on her space.

I have read a few takes on Hadouken!, but I still can't decide if they're too obnoxious for me. Watch their video and come to your own conclusion. I'll have to make a pros and cons chart. If you like this, be sure to cop their remix of Bloc Party's "The Prayer".
