Ok, so The Death Set may be totally so 2007, and this remix doesn't have the Dan Deacon or Bonde do Role brand to push it to the people. However, if you're observant enough to notice the "CLICK HERE FOR OLDER REMIXES" link on their site, your ears will be graced by a wonderfully mindless interpretation by this dude, James Stovall. It makes me feel like I'm in an overcrowded moonbounce drinking red wine from a jug with my grandma. In Precious Moments sweatshirts! I believe that I can't be the only one who feels this way.

rock steady drew: remixes.

ROCK STEADY DREW sent me his mix of Rihanna's "Don't Stop the Music" a few days ago.

I have to confess that I'm really into the gay euro-dancetrash vibe of the original song, so it took a while to get into this. More accurately, it took hearing his remix of M.I.A.'s "Boyz" to really take a moment to listen to everything he had to offer. I realized later that this had been posted on Missingtoof a while back. I then realized that I had even read this post and somehow not listened to the remix at the time. ::shrug:: In any case, this dude somehow took "Summer Nights" from Grease and put it together with Bonde do Role. And it does not sound incredibly stupid. I am amazed by that. Then there's his remix of Fergie's "Glamorous", which I'm slowly realizing that everyone seems to secretly like. I mean, I was in a car with my sister and brother-in-law and he made a mixtape with back-to-back Fergie. I never thought I could ever hear another "Glamorous" remix ever again, and then Rock Steady Drew showed me the way.

bonde do role: quero te amar.

BONDE DO ROLE never wowed me. Their "twisted party vibe full of funk carioca, metal riffs, electro beats and bawdy Portuguese raps" didn't really blow me away. I can't say that I was impressed that they toured with Diplo and Cansei de Ser Sexy. I simply did not care about them.

Well, I didn't care until I heard "Quero te Amar", a song off of their new full-length album With Lasers. I have a thing for Afrika Bambaata and anything with a remotely old-skool electro feel to it...so it was easy to sell me on this one. After a few listens, I learned a very valuable lesson: I should have been wowed from the beginning.

I took a step back and listened to "Gasolina" and "Solta O Frango". It was all good. I took a listen to some tracks off the new album. It was also all good. I don't understand what I was missing before, but I'm glad I finally found it. I began dancing, and it felt good. I guess you sometimes just have to listen to Diplo when he says things are cool. Also, how can you resist that album cover? LASERS!
